Fundraising
The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign (formerly the Muscular Dystrophy Group) has funded research in the Oxford area for almost four decades. Research groups benefitting from grants have been based in various departments of the University as well as in the Muscle Centre at the Radcliffe Infirmary and other groups in the Institute of Molecular Medicine and the University Department of Human Anatomy and Genetics. Research in Oxford has the immediate aim of providing practical improvements for people with Muscular Dystrophy. In addition, genetic research has enabled detailed understanding of the molecular basis of Muscular Dystrophy and has the longer term objective of working towards treatments and cures.
Muscular Dystrophy causes muscles to weaken and waste over time and in its severe forms leads to extreme disability especially in children.
In year 2007 runners and their sponsors helped this race raised £57,800 towards essential research into Muscular Dystrophy. This means the race has now raised over £700,000 since it was started.
Sponsorship Awards
As a "thank you" to all who raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, the race has a clearly defined structure of awards depending upon the amount raised.
- All finishers will receive a medal.
- All runners raising over £25 will receive a special award.
- Raise £100 or more and receive a personalised ‘silver’ award plus an award.
- Raise £200 or more and receive a personalised ‘gold’ award plus an award.
- Spot prizes for imaginative fancy dress
NB. Those who bring their sponsorship on the day should take their money to the Muscular Dystrophy marquee where they can receive the slate coaster. Those qualifying for the "silver" or "gold" awards will have these forwarded once the awards have been personally engraved.

The Oxford Mail and the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign will also be awarding subventions for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female places.
Sponsorship forms
Sponsorship forms are enclosed with the race pack you will receive when you send in your entry. If you need this signed to prove you did complete the event then we will be pleased to do so - go to the Muscular Dystrophy marquee. To qualify for the sponsorship awards and trophies all monies must be returned to the address shown no later than the 30 June 2008
